New Departure, New Planning and New Journey Experience sharing by senior student graduates
On the afternoon of December 25, senior 3 students attended Classroom 103 on the first floor of the Science and Technology Building, where two outstanding graduates from American universities gave a talk.
Wu Jinnan, a 2012 graduate, is currently studying psychology at the University of California, Davis.
He spoke to current students about the following five aspects: 1. Current views of on the last year of high school, and the importance of senior 3 as the turning point and the convergence of learning styles. 2. The difference between high school and American university learning lies mainly in the choice of courses and teaching methods, especially on the art of selecting courses. 3. Preparation for university, especially in terms of time arrangement and self-control. 4. The importance of reading and writing. 5. The psychological benefits of learning a second foreign language.
Li Xilong, a student of grade 2015, is currently a freshman at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
“As freshmen in universities, we should try bravely whether in learning or in social life,” Li Xilong suggested that “freshmen should actively participate in, and explore, various courses, find their own interests, take the initiative to volunteer and take internships, and accumulate experience by actively exchanging their opinions”. Moreover, he added that students should improve their English ability, especially their writing and reading ability, and pay more attention to the study of AP to better deal with college courses, to exchange credits, and to gain a good amount of knowledge.
At the same time, Ms. Jiang Man introduced the study and employment dilemma of international students in the United States. She reminded students that even after being admitted to Senior 3, they should redouble their efforts to improve the following skills: writing ability of advanced academic papers, leadership, teamwork ability, public speaking ability and so on. In addition, students should pass AP courses, American University Bridge Courses, and various activities and competitions to further explore professional interests and directions. They should continue to improve their academic comprehensive ability and their professional skills, thus enhancing their competitiveness in learning and work after going to the United States.
Andrew, director of foreign teachers, stressed the graduation requirements of international students. He reiterated the importance of University thesis writing and shared the harsh requirements of foreign university curricula. He also told students about the challenges of American life and cultural differences and encouraged students to improve their skills diligently to meet greater challenges.
Teacher Fan aifeng, who is in charge of the guidance department for further education, made professional suggestions on the application and offer process. In addition, she, from a professional point of view, suggested that students should make use of the time period from the application to the pre-admission period to improve themselves.
Hu Song, Director of the International Department, emphasized the management of senior three students, the routine requirements of moral education and graduation requirements. Meanwhile, Mrs Hu shared cases of outstanding graduates from previous years, hoping that every senior high school student will make continuous efforts to become international talents who straddle both cultures, while knowing international rules in accordance with the simple and resolute school motto and spirit of Changjun.
